“Hello, my name is Teri Goldstein, and I launched Sausalito Walking Tours in 1996, and I never grow tired of sharing fascinating stories about this lovely city right on San Francisco Bay.
Our amazing tour guides (see below) live here and get a kick about sharing ‘their Sausalito’ with visitors. They are our resident experts whom you will enjoy learning about the history, people and lore of the town.
Just wait until you take this tour and fall in love with it, yourself! Thousands of visitors just like you have joined us and you’ll see more, learn more, experience more from us locals than from a tour bus or outsiders.
As with many before me, I told myself when I first visited here in 1972, that one day I would live here. For well-known celebrities, including musicians, artists, writers, philosophers and visionaries, this is where they chose to create and live. Understand why on your tour.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you to book your tour and to tell me how you liked your experience.” – Teri
Editors Note: Who is Teri? She resided in Asia for many years working as a journalist and travel writer for a subsidiary of the New York Times. She returned to Port Townsend, Washington where she gave historic tours in that charming seaport town very similar to Sausalito. Teri moved to San Francisco, working in all aspects of the travel industry, and started her own travel company, Travels with Teri, in which she arranged custom and small group tours, throughout the world. She focused on unique themes such as antiquarian book fairs in India, jazz festivals in Nepal, France and the USA, and history tours that retrace the steps or events as in her Gandhi’s India. Teri then expanded her Sausalito Walking Tours and has grown the company to become TG Travel Group LLC with 3 product lines:
Local Walking Tour Guides
Historical Walking Tour Guide – Addison. He’s a Sausalito resident, formerly living in Assisi Italy, where he was writing a historical novel. An award-winning “Mad Man” Creative Director/CEO, Addison creates and markets his cool inventions which are sold worldwide, he travels the world photographing people and landscapes (many of which you will see on this site). He’s writing a book that takes place in Sausalito now.
Like many who traveled to Sausalito years ago to sip the town’s creation, The Gin Fizz, at Sunday Brunch or race turtles at Zacks, Addison thought of Sausalito as just a place without a soul. And then he got hooked on it’s lifestyle, people and interesting past. He’s into fine wine, food, storytelling and having a good time on your tour. Head’s up: Addison is known for introducing town locals, artists, shopkeepers, and showing you artifacts along your walking tour, so expect a unique spin, for he has that joie de vivre.
Historical Walking Tour Guide – Rob. A San Francisco native, traveling into Sausalito since the ’50’s, now a resident for the last 15 years, Rob will share the history and raucous stories of Juanita and Juanita’s Galley, Sally Stanford and the Walhalla and all the music personalities who played the Trident Restaurant. Rob is a docent/tour guide at the Pt. Bonita Lighthouse and knows the history of our precious Sausalito from its days as a watering hole for the hundreds of square riggers anchored here during the Gold Rush, the Elephants & Fountain from the 1915 Worlds’ Fair, and today a vibrant European village, accommodating tourists, cyclists and sailors alike. Rob had his production company in the same building where Victory & Liberty Ships were built during WWII and after work would sail over to The Trident, then known as The Yacht Dock, and enjoy a cocktail served right on the stern of his boat. As a local musician Rob will highlight the live music in Sausalito at such venues as the No Name Bar, DiVino’s, The Trident, A Taste of Rome and “Jazz & Blues by the Bay.”
